John is George O'Dowd's younger brother
John is one half of the owners of Flicks and is married to the other half, Ali. It was both Ali and John's idea to give up their life in England and start a business abroad. They came to look at Fuerteventura in March 1997, saw the potential and by October Flicks was born. When they started the business John was responsible for the customer relations part of the bar such as bringing people in to the bar and hosting a variety of entertainment. Karaoke was introduced by chance with a borrowed machine and 6 discs! How things have changed!!! Even though they now have the staff, you can find John doing his DJ spot on certain days of the week.
